FXUS64 KMOB 021113 AFDMOB Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Mobile AL 613 AM CDT Wed Jul 2 2025 ...New Aviation... .DISCUSSION... Issued at 1030 PM CDT Tue Jul 1 2025 Upper ridging remains rooted across the south-central CONUS through the weekend while upper troughing across the eastern CONUS continues to persist. Our forecast area remains between these two features, with ridging being more dominant through late week until a cutoff upper low/trough retrogrades west this weekend into early next week. A weak cold front shifts south through the area tonight into Thursday, ushering in a drier, but hotter, airmass to round out the week into the weekend. We trade off the scattered to numerous showers and storms today for dry weather to prevail Thursday and Friday. Afternoon seabreeze storms nearer the coast try to become established again over the weekend with moisture gradually returning to the area. Temperatures warm from the upper 80's and lower 90's today to lower to middle 90's prevailing each day Thursday into the weekend and early next week. The good news is that afternoon dewpoints drop off with the dry air in place overhead, helping to limit heat indices in the 95 to 105 range any given day. We continue to monitor the potential for tropical development somewhere in the northeast gulf or off the southeast U.S. coast late week into the weekend in association with the aforementioned decaying cold front, however confidence is low on if development occurs and if so, where it would go. A Low risk of rip currents remains through the weekend. MM/25 && .AVIATION... (12Z TAFS) Issued at 613 AM CDT Wed Jul 2 2025 After patchy morning fog burns off, VFR conditions are expected to prevail with the exception of MVFR conditions with isolated to scattered mainly daytime convection. A northwesterly flow at 5-10 knots develops today, then becomes light and variable this evening. /29 && .MARINE... Issued at 1030 PM CDT Tue Jul 1 2025 No marine impacts are expected outside of showers and storms through the weekend. MM/25 && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
