Storms are not expected to be severe. - Warm and dry next week. && .SHORT TERM... (Today and tonight) Issued at 203 AM CDT Fri May 9 2025 Any remaining isolated showers will end overnight. Partly to mostly clear skies and generally light winds will allow for cooler overnight lows ranging from the mid 40s to mid 50s. Breezy NE winds will help to keep temperatures below average again today, with highs only reaching the low-to-mid 70s. A weak shortwave spinning around a developing low along the Gulf coast may be enough to trigger some isolated-to-scattered thunderstorms during the afternoon/evening hours. This is supported by the latest CAMs as well. Like yesterday however, storms are not expected to become severe. && .LONG TERM... (Saturday through Thursday) Issued at 203 AM CDT Fri May 9 2025 An extended period of quiet weather remains expected. Saturday will see continued NE winds and highs remaining in the 70s. Generally calm winds are expected Sunday with temperatures only a couple degrees warmer. A much more significant warming trend will begin on Monday with an upper ridge combined with southwest surface flow. Tuesday will likely be the hottest day as the ridge axis moves through, with widespread highs in the mid 90s. Temperatures will slightly cool thereafter into the end of the week, however should remain above average.
