Gale conditions may occur over the coastal waters. && .SHORT TERM... (Today through Wednesday night) Issued at 619 PM CDT Mon Oct 27 2025 Areas of dense fog across the region this morning have been slow to dissipate across central Louisiana this morning as cloud cover from an area of low pressure over northern Arkansas has slowed warming, but visibilities have finally improved over the last hour. Another night of mostly clear skies and calm winds will favor the redevelopment of fog tonight into early Tuesday morning. A strong cold front will approach the area Tuesday evening into early Wednesday morning accompanied by showers and thunderstorms along and ahead of the boundary. The front is expected to push through quickly limiting qpf totals to generally under a half inch in most locations. Breezy CAA in the wake of the FROPA will drop temperatures into the upper 40s to lower 50s Wednesday morning and continued CAA through the day will limit afternoon highs to the low to mid 60s. Guidance has been consistent in depicting sustained winds of 30 knots with higher gusts over the coastal waters Wednesday which supports the issuance of a gale watch. Winds will begin to weaken Wednesday night as high pressure builds in from the west, but will remain elevated enough to limit radiational cooling. Even so, lows will fall into the mid to upper 40s Thursday morning. Jones && .LONG TERM... (Thursday through Monday) Issued at 619 PM CDT Mon Oct 27 2025 High pressure becomes centered overhead Thursday and Friday yielding clear skies and light winds. The ideal radiational cooling conditions will produce the coolest temperatures of the season thus far Friday morning with lows falling into the low to mid 40s. High pressure will slide east of the region late Friday into the weekend gradually moderating the airmass. Daily highs and lows will climb about five degrees each day through next weekend.
