FXUS64 KJAN 271810 AAA AFDJAN Area Forecast Discussion...UPDATED National Weather Service Jackson MS 110 PM CDT Mon Oct 27 2025 ...New AVIATION... .KEY MESSAGES... - Low pressure system exiting the region, will bring isolated showers to the Golden Triangle area today. - Increased rain chances mid-week, with colder drier conditions late week. && .MESOSCALE UPDATE... Issued at 956 AM CDT Mon Oct 27 2025 The dense fog that developed early this morning has dissipated although low stratus along with very light rain and light drizzle were still occuring across our northern zones. These conditions were being maintained by a closed low noted spinning over western Tennessee and western Kentucky. Clouds will gradually decrease form the southwest this afternoon as the closed low shifts farther to the northeast. The sunshine this afternoon will help temperatures top out near normal but much of the northeast half of the CWA will remain cooler than normal today. /22/ && .DISCUSSION... Issued at 214 AM CDT Mon Oct 27 2025 Today through Sunday...Continuing to monitor fog and low ceilings across much of the area this morning. While some of this is dense, based on the majority of current observations and traffic cameras across the area, it's not widespread. I'll continue to advertise a "Limited" threat for patchy dense fog in the HWO. If dense fog becomes more prevalent over the next few hours, a "Dense Fog Advisory" may be issued for portions of the area. A low pressure system will continue to slowly move east through the region today. This will continue to result in a good bit of cloud cover remaining across the forecast area today, along with some lingering light showers across mainly the Golden Triangle area this afternoon. As the low passes, winds will steadily become more northerly in its wake. This'll bring some slightly cooler drier into the region overnight. Otherwise, look for highs this afternoon to range from the middle 60s north to upper 70s south, with lows tonight falling into the low and middle 50s. Another piece of energy will break-off of a closed low pressure system meandering about Alberta and Saskatchewan Canada and deepen as it dives south southeast across the Midwest and into the Southeast United States Tuesday through Thursday. This closed low will drag a cold front east into and through the forecast area late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. With it, another good coverage of both clouds and rain chances across the CWA overnight Tuesday through at least Wednesday night. The bigger story will be the airmass change that occur across the region in the wake of this cold front Wednesday through Friday as the coolest air of this early autumn season advects into the region. During this time, but mainly Wednesday and Thursday, high temperatures will range from the middle 50s to middle 60s, but will rebound a bit on Friday into the 60s to around 70. Overnight lows though will really be where this cool down is felt, as lows Wednesday night fall into the 40s, but into the upper 30s and lower 40s both Thursday night and Friday night. Please continue to monitor later forecasts during this timeframe, as some locations could potentially see some light patchy frost late in the week. Temperatures will continue to rebound over the upcoming weekend with high pressure sliding east of the forecast area. Another cold front will swing through the region late in the weekend. This will again bring some cloud cover and small rain chances to the forecast area late Saturday night through Sunday. /19/ && .AVIATION...
