FXUS64 KJAN 031731 AAA AFDJAN Area Forecast Discussion...UPDATED National Weather Service Jackson MS 1231 PM CDT Thu Jul 3 2025 ...New AVIATION... .DISCUSSION... Issued at 1249 AM CDT Thu Jul 3 2025 Today through next Wednesday: High pressure will continue to influence the region under a summer pattern. A shortwave amid northwest flow along the eastern flank of the upper ridge will keep more clouds around tomorrow, though drier air will limit coverage of afternoon convection. In areas that retain moisture, particularly the southwest, low (15-20%) PoPs will persist. This ridge will gradually propagate towards our area later this week into the weekend and allow temperatures to warm to the mid 90s. Lingering dry air looks to limit greater heat risk, though heat indices still look to be in the triple digits in the west and in river valleys. A limited heat graphic may eventually be needed. By early next week, moisture recovers, while flow becomes westerly. Heat indices may approach heat thresholds (105-110), but with the increase of rain chances (40-60%), will have to assess heat risk day to day. Additionally, any potential severe risk will have to be assessed day to day. Otherwise, expect seasonal daily diurnally driven convection to continue early to mid next week./SAS/ && .AVIATION...
