FXUS64 KHUN 271919 AFDHUN Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Huntsville AL 219 PM CDT Mon Oct 27 2025 ...New NEAR TERM... .KEY MESSAGES... Updated at 219 PM CDT Mon Oct 27 2025 - Low chance for rain for the remainder of the today, with low clouds in place keeping highs in the 50s. - Gusty winds 25-30 mph return Tuesday night with another round of high chances of showers on Wednesday. - Colder weather arrives Friday with overnight lows in the mid 30s. && .NEAR TERM... (Tonight) Issued at 219 PM CDT Mon Oct 27 2025 Dense cloud cover continues to remain in place this afternoon, with temperatures slowly making it into the upper 50s as of 19z. A few light pockets of rain will linger through the rest of the day, but dry conditions will prevail overnight. The aforementioned cloud cover will linger overnight, thanks to a stout inversion in place (with ceilings are forecast to remain at/below 1 kft in general). This would result in some very low visibilities on the higher terrain, but limit the potential for valley fog despite the very moist boundary layer. Due to the dense cloud cover, temperatures won't budge much overnight and remain in the 50s. && .SHORT TERM... (Tuesday through Wednesday night Issued at 1035 AM CDT Mon Oct 27 2025 A brief reprieve in the rainfall during the day on Tuesday as a subtle bout of ridging will take place. Despite the dense cloud canopy, some SE/SSE winds should be able to push temperatures into the low to mid 60s by the afternoon. This will likely be the warmest we'll be this week as a rapidly deepening upper-low will come barreling our way Tuesday night into Wednesday from the Mid South region. This feature will bring breezy winds (20-30 MPH) and very high chances (80-100%) for rain showers during this timeframe -- with most locations receiving an additional 1.0" to 1.5" of rain (with a few locally higher amounts). Rain chances will lower Wednesday night as the ejects into the central Appalachians and Mid Atlantic, but will still remain 40-70% over the area as this feature pulls away. A notable cool down will also take place Wednesday and Wednesday night as highs will drop back into the 50s and lows in the 40s. && .LONG TERM... (Thursday through Sunday) Issued at 954 PM CDT Sun Oct 26 2025 At the start of the long term period on Thursday, the aformentioned trough axis will be situated across the Southeast with an upper low centered over Tennessee. Wrap around moisture will result in a low chance of some showers throughout the day on Thursday. Mostly cloudy skies hold temperatures in the low to mid 50s during the afternoon, but it may feel a bit colder given pressure gradient winds gusting 15 to 20 mph. As we head towards the end of the work week into the start of the weekend, a cooler and drier pattern takes shape. Afternoon highs both Friday and Saturday only top out in the upper 50s to lower 60s. However, overnight, light winds and clear skies will drop temperatures on Friday night into the mid to upper 30s. Something to keep an eye on would be first frost development of the season, especially in northeast AL and southern middle TN. Another upper level trough digs into the Southeast by Sunday. This will bring another chance for precip, but there is still some uncertainty in timing and how far south the upper level system drops. A gradual warmup is also expected in response to the southerly/southwesterly flow ahead of the trough on Sunday. && .AVIATION... (18Z TAFS) Issued at 1253 PM CDT Mon Oct 27 2025 Inclement weather is expected across the area into Tue morning. A system that brought showers overnight has moved SE of the region. However widespread post system stratus with CIGs in the IFR/MVFR range remain. A few area of showers could impact the terminals this afternoon and early evening. Winds this afternoon should be from the ESE 5-10kt with a few gusts above 15kt, which should become light from the SE this evening and in the overnight. Tonight, CIGs areawide to be reduced into the IFR, with LIFR values possible, along with MVFR VSBY. Lower values of CIG/VSBY cannot be ruled out. Conditions should improve shortly after daybreak Tue morning. && .HUN WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... AL...None. TN...None. && $$ NEAR TERM...AMP.24 SHORT TERM....AMP LONG TERM....GH AVIATION...RSB
