Mostly sunny skies allows afternoon temperatures to rise into the upper 80s to lower 90s. Despite warm temperatures, it will be a rather comfortable day for early July as dewpoints stay in the low to mid 60s. With the lower dewpoint, heat index values stay close to the sfc temperatures and heat risk low. && .SHORT TERM... (Thursday night through Saturday) Issued at 956 PM CDT Wed Jul 2 2025 A broad subtropical ridge will remain in place Friday (4th of July) and Saturday, promoting mostly sunny, warm, and dry conditions for the the upcoming holiday weekend. Ample sunshine and winds veering back to the south should allow for highs to creep back up into the low to mid 90s both days. With dewpoints also creeping back into the lower 70s, heat may begin to become a little more a concern -- with peak heat index values around 100 degrees being common both days.
