FXUS64 KEWX 270011 AFDEWX Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Austin/San Antonio TX 711 PM CDT Sun Oct 26 2025 ...New AVIATION... .KEY MESSAGES... - Patchy to areas of fog could develop into Monday morning for locations along and east of the I-35 corridor. - Warm temperatures early week, then much cooler, below average temperatures, middle to late week. && .SHORT TERM... (Tonight through Monday night) Issued at 1230 PM CDT Sun Oct 26 2025 This morning's fog that had developed within some of the local river valleys, portions of the Austin metro area, and for areas from Fayette county and north-northeastward has improved late this morning with any remaining low stratus eroding towards mostly sunny skies. Late tonight into Monday morning could also see the development for some fog along and east of the I-35 corridor. Otherwise, fair weather trends through the short term with a dry west-northwesterly flow aloft in wake of the upper level system that had brought the recent rains. Winds remain light through Monday but a slight uptick in low-level flow for Monday night look to result in slightly higher dew points and a slightly milder night compared to tonight's expected overnight lows. The daytime highs across the region will reach into the 80s and 90s but Monday will be the warmest day as highs will by about 3 to 5 degrees higher area wide in comparison to this afternoon. && .LONG TERM... (Tuesday through next Sunday) Issued at 1230 PM CDT Sun Oct 26 2025 A deepening upper level low that will dig south-southeastward from the northern plains into the lower Mississippi Valley will help to bring the strongest front of the season so far across South-Central Texas on Tuesday. Cold air advection in wake of the frontal passage, leads to our first true taste of fall weather throughout our region as soon as Tuesday night. While, there is a subtle warming trend with the returning southerly low-level flow by late week into next weekend, anticipate for at least near to below average temperatures to continue into early November. Low- lying spots within the Hill Country and along the Escarpment could see the sunrise temperatures in the 30s, especially Thursday. A dry northwesterly flow aloft keeps rain out of the forecast. The only exception being, a slight chance of showers or a storm along the front Tuesday afternoon, mainly for locations along the highway 77 corridor in the coastal plains. && .AVIATION... (00Z TAFS) Issued at 659 PM CDT Sun Oct 26 2025 VFR and light variable winds prevail across the region. However, low CIGs and VSBYs are expected to develop mainly after 09Z near and generally east of a line from KGTU to KAUS to KSAT. The western extent of the IFR to LIFR conditions is uncertain and terminal-specific guidance has repeatedly varied in timing and occurrence of impacts at KAUS/KSAT/KSSF. Have introduced prevailing low SCT bases at those three sites at 09Z through 16Z-18Z to indicate potential CIG development and maintained TEMPOs for reduced VSBYs where confidence is higher at KAUS and KSSF. However, will need to assess where low clouds and BR/FG development later tonight for clearer delineation of impacts. KDRT will likely stay well west of these aviation impacts. Light winds are expected to persist throughout the TAF period. && .FIRE WEATHER... Issued at 1230 PM CDT Sun Oct 26 2025 In the wake of the frontal passage Tuesday, minimum humidities in the teens to 20s are expected on Wednesday. Northerly winds of 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 25 to 30 mph could result in elevated to near critical fire weather conditions as the impact of our recent wetting rainfall begins to decrease. Although minimum humidities will only be slightly higher on Thursday, winds of less than 10 mph areexpected. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
