Issued at 628 AM CDT THU MAY 7 2026 - Showers and thunderstorms come to an end around mid this morning. - Periods of showers and a few thunderstorms return over the weekend. Severe weather is not expected at this time. && .DISCUSSION... (Today through Wednesday) Issued at 628 AM CDT THU MAY 7 2026 Surface high pressure will build into the region from the northwest today. This will shunt a front, responsible for Wednesday and Wednesday night's stormy weather, farther south. As a result, lingering shower and thunderstorm activity is forecast to end around mid to late this morning. A series of shortwave troughs will move across the Gulf Coast region this weekend, resulting in spells of showers and a few thunderstorms. The overall pattern isn't too conducive for severe thunderstorms, especially given signals of minimal instability, but we'll keep an eye out for any changes. Otherwise, no temperature extremes are noted over the next seven days. High and low temperatures will be seasonal. 89^GSatterwhite && .AVIATION...
