(Tonight through Saturday night) Issued at 1114 PM CST Thu Dec 11 2025 Across the northern combined Panhandles as of this writing, winds have already shifted to the north. Through the night, the rest of the Panhandles are expected to see winds swing around the clock to the north as a weak cold front fills in. This will help the morning lows drop into the lower 30s across the northern combined Panhandles. While the southeastern TX Panhandle may hang on to temperatures in the low 40s. Today, winds quickly turn to the east then southeast with temperatures allowing to warm up to the mid 50s to the northeastern FA and lower to mid 60s across the south. Temperatures may still be a few degrees above normal but not 20 to 25 degrees above normal seen yesterday, thanks to the frontal passage. Friday night, H85 temperatures are expected to remain around 8 to 10 degrees C. Skies should clear but with some winds around 10 mph out of the south many areas will see overnight lows stop short of falling below freezing. However, some locations across the far eastern FA and some isolated locations elsewhere in the Panhandles may not have the luxury of winds mixing those warmer H85 temperatures down and could see overnight lows fall below 32 degrees. Saturday, a back door cold front is expected to fill in from northeast to southwest during the afternoon. Afternoon temperatures will depend on the speed and strength of CAA filling in from the northeast. Highs in the western FA may still reach well into the 60s for a high while the east may only see high temperatures reach into the lower to mid 50s. Thanks to weak low level thermal ridge building into east NM and parts of the western Panhandles ahead of the cold front, some locations like Hereford may actually get to around 70 in the middle of the afternoon before temperatures trend downward. Thanks to H85 temperatures around 0 to -5 degrees C filling into the Panhandles overnight Saturday night, overnight lows may dip into the mid teens to the northeast and lower 20s to the southwest going into Sunday morning. && .LONG TERM... (Sunday through next Thursday) Issued at 1114 PM CST Thu Dec 11 2025 Mainly dry and benign weather continues into the long term. Afternoon temperatures continue to look cool for Sunday. Although winds shift to the south early in the day, cooler H85 are progged to stick around behind Saturday's cold front, leaving much of the area stuck in the mid to upper 40s for Sunday afternoon. The far eastern combined Panhandles may not even break 40 for a high Sun depending on how quickly H85 temperatures rebound. Right now the deterministic models are varying with H85 temperatures Sunday afternoon leaving some uncertainty with the highs. The H85 temperatures are ranging from -1.5 to 4.5 degrees C. Through the rest of the extended period, dry conditions continue with some fluctuations in temperatures. Upper level ridging builds Mon into Wed with a gradual increase in afternoon highs each day, with Wed looking to potentially have high temperatures in the 70s again. The NBM has Thursday's afternoon highs fall back to near normal or slightly above in the mid to upper 50s behind the next cold front. && .AVIATION... There may potentially be some light LLWS at KAMA over the next hour or two in thebeginning of this period. The magnitude should be low enough leave out of the TAF at this time due to the weakness of this front.
