FXUS63 KLMK 021050 AFDLMK Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Louisville KY 650 AM EDT Wed Jul 2 2025 ...Updated Aviation Discussion... .KEY MESSAGES... * Less humid conditions today and Thursday. * Mostly sunny Independence Day, with afternoon highs in the low 90s. * Turning hot and humid again this weekend, with at least small rain and thunderstorm chances returning on Sunday. && .SHORT TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/... Issued at 230 AM EDT Wed Jul 2 2025 Through Sunrise... Low level moisture is still present over our far eastern areas. This moisture, combined with calm winds, clear skies, and recent rain has allowed for areas of dense fog to develop in our far eastern counties and over the Lake Cumberland region. An SPS was issued earlier for these areas and expires at 13Z. Today and Tonight... Northwesterly flow aloft will help to keep low dew points over the region and conditions more comfortable. Surface high pressure will nose in from the west bringing light winds and dry weather. Plenty of sunshine tomorrow will allow high temperatures in mid-upper 80s. Overnight, patchy fog will be possible with clear skies and calm winds. && .LONG TERM /THURSDAY THROUGH TUESDAY/... Issued at 230 AM EDT Wed Jul 2 2025 Thursday - Independence Day... Troughing over the Great Lakes will push off to the northeast and ridging will drift over the region. This will increase heights over the Ohio Valley and increase temperatures. Expecting to see high temperatures in the upper 80s and low 90s. Surface high pressure will remain allowing for continued dry weather, light winds, and mostly sunny skies. This Weekend into Mid Next Week... Ridging continues to build over the region through the weekend, allowing temperatures to increase each day into the low-mid 90s. Surface high pressure will slip east of the region Saturday into Sunday, which will bring a return of southwesterly flow and moisture. Late Saturday, a weakening wave along the periphery of the upper ridging may bring some isolated to scattered chances for showers over southern Indiana. Otherwise, Saturday should remain dry. Late weekend, flow aloft becomes more zonal prior to troughing move over the Great Lakes. This will send a weak cold front through the Ohio Valley. With increased moisture ahead of the front, shower and storm chances will increase late Sunday night through Monday. Depending on how far south the cold front stalls will determine if we can be dry on Tuesday and Wednesday. Brief, weak high pressure will build in behind the front and ridging will build aloft. Best chances in this case for rain would be over the far southern areas. && .AVIATION /12Z TAFS THROUGH 18Z THURSDAY/... Issued at 649 AM EDT Wed Jul 2 2025 VFR conditions are expected during most of the period, excluding some possible light fog in the morning at HNB. Surface high pressure will keep winds on the lighter side through the period. In the late morning, some SCT Cu around 4kft may develop over the BWG/HNB/SDF. After sunset, winds will become calm to light and skies remain clear overnight. && .LMK WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... KY...None. IN...None. && $$ SHORT TERM...SRW LONG TERM...SRW AVIATION...SRW
