Issued at 153 PM CDT Fri May 9 2025 The forecast will be dominated by mild conditions this weekend thanks to a blocking pattern that has developed over the central US. In the mid to upper levels troughing pushes off the east coast leaving behind an area of low pressure over the south central US. The low has becomes closed off and will meander north of the Gulf for the next several days. To the west, ridging develops in the southwest United States and remains locked in thanks to the low to our south preventing much movement in the upper pattern. For our area, we remain between these two features, which means weather should be relatively quiet for the next few days. This afternoon, expect highs to top out in the mid 70s with light winds and sunny skies. Lows tonight fall into the low 50s. For the weekend, the axis of the ridge tilts slightly toward our area keeping the weather quiet and mild each day. On Saturday and Sunday, expect highs near 80 across the area and ample sunshine along with light winds. A great weekend for those with outdoor plans. As we head into the work week the stagnant low begins to slide up the Mississippi River, eventually pushing east of our area by the mid week. Very low end precipitation chances will possible clip our eastern forecast area as the low slides away. In the lows place, strong upper level ridging becomes more prevalent over the region and a warming trend begins. Highs on Monday and Tuesday remain in the low to mid 80s. Wednesday through Friday will seem more like mid- summer with highs in the mid and even upper 80s and lows in the mid 60s; Well above normal for mid-May. Precipitation chances return late next week, although the specifics are still unclear if our area would be impacted. && .AVIATION /18Z TAFS THROUGH 18Z SATURDAY/...
