FXUS63 KDDC 090442 AFDDDC Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Dodge City KS 1142 PM CDT Thu May 8 2025 .KEY MESSAGES... - A slight chance of showers or embedded thunderstorms this afternoon - Dry through the early part of next week - Approaching 90 degrees early to mid part of next week && .DISCUSSION... Issued at 155 PM CDT Thu May 8 2025 Some residual moisture left over from the departing system will allow for mid level clouds to form this afternoon. There may be a few light showers that make it to the ground with a rumble of thunder. Winds will generally be light and from the northeast, becoming light and variable overnight with clearing skies. Mostly clear skies and dry conditions are then expected tomorrow through the first part of next week as upper level riding builds over the Rockies through this weekend, then over the Plains early next week. Ensemble models then suggest an upper level low to move closer to the area by the mid part of next week. This may bring an increase chance in thunderstorms to the Plains. However, being this many days out future model runs will need to be watched. As for temperatures, highs will reach into the low 70s today with upper 70s to around 80 degrees tomorrow through Sunday. Highs then are expected to increase into the 80s early next week with possibly around 90 degrees Tuesday. Lows will generally will be in the 40s through Sunday morning with 50s for the remainder of the forecast. && .AVIATION /06Z TAFS THROUGH 06Z SATURDAY/...
