FXUS63 KDDC 071019 AFDDDC Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Dodge City KS 519 AM CDT Thu May 7 2026 .KEY MESSAGES... - Pleasant highs to close out the business week - A chance of thunderstorms in the east over the weekend - Fairly warm and dry next week && .DISCUSSION... Issued at 1111 PM CDT Wed May 6 2026 Dry northwesterly flow aloft is expected Thursday and Friday. The net result is a dry and warm forecast. For today, light downslope winds will continue. This will result in much warmer highs with values peaking in the mid to upper 70s. The light downslope winds will continue through the overnight tonight. This will result in warmer lows with values bottoming out mainly in the 40s. Low 50s are possible across south-central Kansas. For Friday, the uneventful weather will continue. Highs will peak once again in the mid to upper 70s. Lows Saturday morning will continue to be mainly in the 40s. For Saturday, a weak upper level wave will move from the Northern Plains to the Central Plains. This disturbance might spark off thunderstorms across the far eastern zones Saturday evening. Both the GEFS and ENS members show the best consensus of storm initiation stretching from central Kansas towards eastern Kansas. The NBM pops across the eastern zones look reasonable for now. Otherwise, highs Saturday will be in the 80s with a slight cooldown to 70s Sunday. Lows over the weekend will range from the 40s to 50s. For next week, mid level heights will remain fairly high. Both long range models and their ensemble counterparts so no major synoptic system influencing our local weather for several days. This supports the notion of a forecast free of thunderstorms. Highs Monday and Tuesday could end up on the hot side with 90s possible across a portion of the FA. Both GEFS and ENS are in agreement with a warm and dry forecast during this period. && .AVIATION /12Z TAFS THROUGH 12Z FRIDAY/...
