Fog could become dense at times. - High temperatures near to slightly below normal today, then above normal Friday through at least the start of next week. - Mostly dry and warm conditions through Veteran's Day. && .DISCUSSION... Issued at 239 AM CST Thu Nov 5 2026 An upper level low over the Great Lakes will continue to progress eastward while an upper level ridge over the Northern Rockies continues to amplify. Northeasterly surface flow is currently propagating low stratus across the central and eastern half of the state. Low stratus is forecast to break up later this afternoon as northeasterly flow switches to southeasterly and solar insolation burns off the westerly extent of the low stratus. Although, some low stratus may linger in the James River Valley to the Red River Valley. Some patchy to areas of fog is possible across the northwest as temperatures near the dew point with little to no wind. Fog may be dense at times. Patchy fog will burn off after sunrise. High temperatures are forecast to be around the upper 30s east due to the low clouds and the lower 50s out west due to the proximity of the upper level ridge. Overnight low temperatures are forecast to drop down into the 20s. The upper level ridge will pass over the Northern Plain Friday bringing back above normal temperatures in the 50s out west while the east is forecast to be in the 40s. Temperatures are forecast to warm up into the 50s and 60s Saturday as the thermal ridge moves over the region and compressional warming ahead of a frontal passage. Upper level ridging will move eastward this Saturday as an upper level low digs across the International border. The aforementioned upper level low will bring forth windy conditions across the western and central half of the state as westerly winds aid the warmer temperatures Saturday afternoon. No precipitation is forecast from this upper low. Ridging will build back over western CONUS Sunday, but an upper level wave will dampen the ridge Monday leading to windy conditions with another frontal passage. Upper level ridging will then amplify over western CONUS by the middle of next week bringing above normal temperatures and dry conditions. && .AVIATION /06Z TAFS THROUGH 06Z FRIDAY/...
