FXUS62 KFFC 221730 AFDFFC Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Peachtree City GA 130 PM EDT Sun Mar 22 2026 ...New 18Z Aviation Discussion... .KEY MESSAGES... Updated at 1219 PM EDT Sun Mar 22 2026 - Above normal temperatures continue through Sunday before a cold front brings high temperatures back into the 60s early this week. - A cold front will support additional chances for showers and thunderstorms next week. Some storms may become strong to marginally severe across portions of central and eastern Georgia on Monday. && .SHORT TERM... (Today through Monday) Issued at 223 AM EDT Sun Mar 22 2026 Another day of benign weather conditions is in store today with mostly clear skies and dry conditions. Temperatures will again be 15-20 degrees above normal, topping out in the mid to upper 80s across the area. Will see a front begin to sink south on Monday with isolated rain chances for north Georgia early Monday morning. As the front sinks southward into central Georgia there does remain a low chance for storms to develop along this boundary late Monday evening. Far southeastern central Georgia will be the area that may see storms if they're able to occur. Relief in temperatures is on the way on Tuesday. && .LONG TERM... (Monday night through Saturday) Issued at 223 AM EDT Sun Mar 22 2026 Upper level ridging to continue through the period with occasional shortwave pulses bringing brief northwest flow and low rain chances. Expect transient PoPs of 15-20% through the period (Tuesday/Wednesday) due to uncertainty in how deep these shortwaves are able to dive into the ridge. Any precip will have to fight significant sinking air across GA. Temperatures to start off cooler (highs still in the 60s) with post frontal air, however these rebound back to the mid 80s to low 90s by Friday. Could be looking at a few records this week. && .AVIATION... (18Z TAFS) Issued at 130 PM EDT Sun Mar 22 2026 Mostly clear skies today and tonight with increased cloud cover Monday as a dry frontal boundary pushes through the area. No expecting any precip or restrictions to VSBYs through this TAF period. The biggest issue we will see is increased wind speeds with the frontal passage Monday. Mainly seeing W to SW winds today in the 6-12kt range. May see some gust to 20kt this afternoon but winds will diminish to 10kt or less over night. Winds will turn to the NW Monday with the front expected to move through the ATL area by 16z and CSG and MCN by 20z. Will see speeds increase into the 8-14kt range with gust 20-25kt Mon afternoon. //ATL Confidence...18Z Update... Confidence high on all elements. 01 && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
