FXUS62 KFFC 031806 AFDFFC Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Peachtree City GA 106 PM EST Tue Feb 3 2026 ...New 18Z Aviation Discussion... .KEY MESSAGES... Updated at 1252 PM EST Tue Feb 3 2026 - Warm temperatures today ahead of a front that will bring widespread light rain to the area this evening through Wednesday, with rainfall totals under a half inch. - Dry conditions with temperatures near daily normals from late week through the weekend. && .SHORT TERM... (Today through Wednesday) Issued at 1257 AM EST Tue Feb 3 2026 A quiet and cool start to the day in north and central GA with mostly clear skies, light winds, and morning lows in the upper 20s to low 30s. Temperatures will then soar into the mid to upper 50s in north GA and low to mid 60s in central GA, by this afternoon, as deep southwest flow strengthens and brings a warmer airmass into the region. This flow develops in response to a mid- level shortwave and frontal boundary that will be dropping across the lower Midwest into the TN Valley throughout the day. By mid to late afternoon, moisture pooling out ahead of the frontal boundary will bring increasingly cloudy skies to the area, with widespread light rain starting to move into far NW GA. This will very slowly spread across the rest of north GA during the evening and overnight hours, continuing across central GA through Wednesday afternoon. Overall, rainfall totals will range from 0.10 to 0.25 inches, with up to 0.75 inches in the far north GA mountains. Despite the rain, the warm and humid airmass will keep temperatures mild tonight and Wednesday, generally ranging from mid 40s to mid 50s. The actual cold front will start to push across the region Wednesday afternoon and evening, with a dry and cool airmass rapidly filling in behind it and ending any rain chances. && .LONG TERM... (Wednesday night through Monday) Issued at 1257 AM EST Tue Feb 3 2026 As the cold front moves the rain out late Wednesday, cold air is expected to filter in behind it. Widespread temperatures below freezing are expected for Wednesday night into Thursday morning, with breezy northwest winds dropping windchill values into the teens to low 20s. Once that passes through, it'll be quiet weather for a little while. Long term models don't even hint at the possibility of returning precip until early next week and a lot can change until then. Temperatures will climb back into the 50s by the end of the work week though overnight lows are expected to hover at or just below freezing for the remainder of the forecast. A subtle reminder that winter for the SE is on it's way out. && .AVIATION...
