Through 400 PM, scattered showers and thunderstorms will move eastward at 10 knots through the coastal waters of the Florida Keys, especially across the southeastern Gulf and in the lee of Big Pine. The thunderstorms will be capable of brief bouts of lightning, periods of blinding downpours, and localized wind gusts near 25 knots. For portions of Vaca and Duck Keys, residents and visitors can expect a few rumbles of thunder, localized wind gusts near 20 mph, and an additional quarter inch of rainfall. We are watching relic outflows spilling south towards the Lower Keys, that may turn into triggering mechanisms for additional showers or storms over the next hour or two. $$ CLR
