WARNING FOR LAND AREAS

	
A HEAVY RAIN WARNING AND FLASH FLOOD ADVISORY REMAIN IN FORCE FOR THE NIUAS LAND AREAS.

A GALE WARNING REMAINS IN FORCE FOR ALL OF TONGA LAND AREAS.

		

SITUATION

	
A high pressure system to the far southeast of Tonga continues to circulate a strong to damaging gale force east to southeasterly winds across Tonga today and tomorrow. Meanwhile, an active trough is approaching the Niuas from the north this weekend. Associated clouds with heavy rain and thunderstorms may affect the Niuas this weekend.

		

FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT TOMORROW FOR TONGA

	
FOR THE NIUAS:
Moderate to fresh east to southeasterly winds, strong to damaging gale force winds at times.
Mostly cloudy and overcast with occasional rain, heavy at times tonight and tomorrow with isolated thunderstorms.
Possible flooding in low lying areas due to heavy rain

FOR VAVA'U, HA'APAI, TONGATAPU AND 'EUA:
Moderate to fresh east to southeasterly winds, strong to damaging gale force winds at times.
Mostly cloudy with scattered showers.

Moderate to fresh north to northwest winds, strong at times.
Mostly cloudy and overcast with occasional rain, heavy at times with isolated thunderstorm.
Possible flooding in low lying areas due to heavy rain.

FOR VAVA'U AND HA'APAI:
Moderate to fresh east to northeasterly winds, strong to damaging gale force winds at times.
Mostly cloudy and overcast with occasional rain, heavy at times with isolated thunderstorm.
Possible flooding in low lying areas due to heavy rain.

FOR TONGATAPU AND 'EUA:
Moderate to fresh easterly winds, strong at times.

FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT TOMORROW FOR TONGA COASTAL WATERS

	
FOR ALL OF TONGA COASTAL WATERS:
East to southeasterly winds 20-25 knots, gusting up to damaging gale force winds 30-40 knots at times.
Rough to very rough seas (up to 4-5 metres). A heavy damaging southeasterly swell (up to 4 metres).
Poor visibility in the areas of heavy rain especially the northern parts.

		

OUTLOOK FOR SUNDAY

	
FOR THE NIUAS COASTAL WATERS:
North to northwest winds 20-25 knots, rising up to 30 knots at times.
Rough seas (up to 3.5 metres). A heavy damaging southeasterly swell (up to 4 metres).
Poor visibility in the areas of heavy rain.

FOR VAVA'U AND HA'APAI COASTAL WATERS:
East to northeast winds 20-25 knots, gust up to gale force winds 35-40 knots at times.
Rough to very rough seas (up to 4-5 metres). A heavy damaging southeasterly swell (up to 4 metres).
Poor visibility in the areas of heavy rain.

FOR THE REST OF TONGA COASTAL WATERS:
East to southeast winds 20-25 knots, gust up to gale force winds 30-35 knots at times.
Rough to very rough seas (up to 4-5 metres). A heavy damaging southeasterly swell (up to 4 metres).
