WARNING FOR LAND AREAS

	
A GALE WARNING REMAIN IN FORCE THE NIUAS AND VAVA'U LAND AREAS.

A HEAVY RAIN WARNING AND FLASH FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN FORCE FOR THE NIUAS, VAVA'U AND HA'APAI LAND AREAS.

A STRONG WIND WARNING REMAIN IN FORCE FOR HA'APAI LAND AREAS.

		

SITUATION

	
An active trough of a low-pressure lies over the Niuas, Vava'u and Ha'apai. It is expected to extend southward and approach Tongatapu and 'Eua by later tomorrow. Associated clouds, occasional heavy rain, gusty winds and thunderstorms affecting most parts of the Group until tomorrow

		

FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT TOMORROW FOR TONGA

	
FOR THE NIUAS AND VAVA'U:
Moderate to fresh northwest winds, strong and gust up to gale force winds at times.
Mostly cloudy and overcast at times with occasional rain, heavy at times with thunderstorms.
Possible flooding in low lying areas due to heavy rain.

FOR HA'APAI:
Light to moderate north to northwest winds, becoming fresh to strong at times.
Mostly cloudy and overcast at times with occasional rain, heavy at times with thunderstorms.
Possible flooding in low lying areas due to heavy rain.

FOR TONGATAPU AND 'EUA:
Light to moderate northwesterly wind, then become fresh to strong at times by tomorrow afternoon.
Cloudy periods with potential occasional showers at some places and possibly heavy at times.

Moderate to fresh north to northeast winds, strong at times then gradually decrease in the evening.
Cloudy and overcast at times with occasional heavy rain with thunderstorms then becoming fine later in the afternoon

FOR VAVA'U, HA'APAI, TONGATAPU AND 'EUA:
Moderate to fresh northwesterly winds, strong at times and gust up to gale force winds especially over Ha'apai and Vava'u.
Cloudy and overcast with occasional heavy rain with thunderstorms and possible tornadoes.

Northwesterly wind of 15-25 knots, gusting up to 30-40 knots at times.
Rough to very rough seas (up to 4 metres). A moderate northwesterly swell (up to 2.5 metres).
Poor visibility in the areas of heavy rain.

FOR HA'APAI COASTAL WATERS:
North to northwesterly winds of 15-20 knots, gusting up to 35-40 knots at times especially.
Rough to very rough seas (up to 4 metres). A moderate northwesterly swell (up to 2.5 metres).
Poor visibility in the areas of heavy rain.

FOR TONGATAPU AND 'EUA COASTAL WATERS:
North to northwesterly winds of 10 to 20 knots at times then rising up to 25-35 later tomorrow afternoon. Rough to very rough seas (up to 4 metres). A moderate northwesterly swell (up to 2.5 metres).
Poor visibility in the areas of heavy rain.

FOR TELE-KI-TONGA AND TELE-KI-TOKELAU COASTAL WATERS:
South to southeasterly winds of 10-15 knots, rising up to 20-25 knots at times.
