WARNING FOR LAND AREAS

	
A STRONG WIND WARNING IS NOW IN FORCE TO VAVA'U LAND AREAS BUT REMAINS IN FORCE TO NIUAS LAND AREAS.

A HEAVY RAIN WARNING AND FLASH FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN FORCE FOR ALL OF TONGA LAND AREAS.

		

SITUATION

	
An active trough of a low-pressure system lies over the Niuas and Vava'u today is expected to move southward and affect the rest of Tonga tomorrow. Associated clouds, heavy rain, strong winds and thunderstorms over the northern parts of Tonga by today and extends over most parts of Tonga tomorrow.

		

FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT TOMORROW FOR TONGA

	
FOR THE NIUAS AND VAVA'U:
Moderate northwest winds, fresh to strong at times.
Mostly cloudy and overcast at times with occasional rain, heavy at times with thunderstorms.
Possible flooding in low lying areas due to heavy rain.

FOR HA'APAI:
Light to moderate west to northwest winds, fresh at times
Cloudy and overcast with occasional rain, heavy at times.
Possible flooding in low lying areas due to heavy rain.

FOR TONGATAPU AND 'EUA:
Light to moderate south to southwesterly winds, fresh at times, trending east to southeasterly tomorrow morning.
Cloudy at times with occasional rain, possibly heavy at times.
Possible flooding in low lying areas due to heavy rain.

Moderate to fresh northwesterly winds, strong at times.
Cloudy and overcast at times with occasional heavy rain, thunderstorms with possible tornadoes.

FOR TONGATAPU AND 'EUA:
Light to moderate west to southwesterly winds, variable at times. trending to northwesterly winds in the afternoon.
Cloudy and overcast at times with occasional rain, heavy at times with isolated thunderstorms.

A GALE WARNING, HEAVY DAMAGING SWELL AND SMALL GRAFT ADVISORY REMAIN IN FORCE FOR THE NIUAS, VAVA'U, HA'APAI, TONGATAPU AND 'EUA COASTAL WATERS.

 





AN EXTREME HIGH TIDE REMAINS IN FORCE FOR ALL OF TONGA COASTAL WATERS.

Rough to very rough seas (up to 4 metres). A heavy damaging northerly swell (up to 4 metres).
Poor visibility in the areas of heavy rain.
Possible flooding in low-lying coastal due to extreme high tides.

FOR HA'APAI COASTAL WATERS:
West to northwesterly wind of 20-25 knots, gusting up to 30-35 knots at times.
Rough to very rough seas (up to 4 metres). A heavy damaging northerly swell (up to 4 metres).
Poor visibility in the areas of heavy rain.
Possible flooding in low-lying coastal due to extreme high tides.

FOR TONGATAPU AND 'EUA COASTAL WATERS:
South to southwesterly wind of 15-20 knots, gusting up to 30-35 knots at times.
Rough to very rough seas (up to 4 metres). A heavy damaging northerly swell (up to 4 metres).
Poor visibility in the areas of heavy rain.
Possible flooding in low-lying coastal due to extreme high tides.

FOR TELE-KI-TONGA AND TELE-KI-TOKELAU COASTAL WATERS:
South to southeasterly winds of 10-15 knots, rising up to 20-25 knots at times.

Southerly winds of 10-15 knots, rising up to 20 knots at times.
