Breezy to gusty northwest winds of 30 to 55 mph are forecast through

Friday across gaps, passes, and some valleys. These winds and poor

to moderate RH recovery will lead to dry conditions over the higher

elevations, and in particular lead to elevated to near critical fire

weather conditions for the East Bay and Santa Cruz mountains.

Conditions begin to improve over the weekend, as the marine layer

re-establishes and winds ease.

Isolated thunderstorm and lightning will be possible (15% chance)

late this afternoon through this evening over  northeast Trinity

County. A few storms may also develop after  midnight (10% chance).

Otherwise, cooler temperatures and breezy  westerly and

northwesterly winds are expected again on Friday.  Minimum humidity

around 20 to 25% and wind gusts from 20 to 25 mph are expected on

Friday in the Weaverville basin and across  southern Lake County.

Temperatures are forecast to warm over the  weekend and generally

continue on an upward trend next week.
