Scattered showers and thunderstorms are on tap this 

afternoon, with gusty winds from area storms and brief heavy 

rainfall resulting in runoff in area washes. A downturn in

thunderstorm activity can be expected for Independence Day and 

into the weekend. As conditions dry out, temperatures will warm

up from Sunday into early next week.
