...Synopsis...

A strong mid-level jet will be present across the central Rockies

today. A lee trough extending from a surface low in the northern

Plains will drive strong downslope winds in parts of the High

Plains. Behind the upper trough, a surface high will build into the

Northwest and Great Basin, especially toward Tuesday morning.



...Central High Plains...

Surface winds of 15-25 mph can be expected behind the lee trough.

Higher wind gusts will also be possible. RH with northward extent is

somewhat uncertain, but areas within the Front Range have potential

to have 15-20% during the afternoon. Given the relative lack of

precipitation in the vicinity of northeast Colorado, fuels will

support elevated fire weather concerns.



...Southern California...

Offshore winds will likely begin sometime this morning and steadily

intensify through the day into Tuesday morning. RH reductions during

the period do not appear overly large. Furthermore, area fuels are

not sufficiently dry to support significant fire weather concerns.
