Strong winds both ahead of and behind a cold front will combine with low humidity and favorable fuel conditions to yield near critical fire weather conditions across the region this afternoon. Fire-fighting efforts may be complicated by the wind shift with the front. Conditions should improve this evening as winds back off a bit and humidities rise. Winds have been gusting to around 40 mph behind the cold front north of I-44. The strong gust potential will decrease after 7 PM. SPOTTER AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ACTION STATEMENT...
