April rainfall amounts were much below normal which resulted in Drought intensity worsening by about one category for all areas (for example, from Severe Drought to Extreme Drought). Rain and snow to start the month of May are not reflected in the latest Drought Monitor as of yet, but will likely have little to no impact to long term drought conditions.
