Summary...Isolated instances of flash flooding remain possible

through early afternoon.



Discussion...While a lead convective complex has largely exited

the region to the southeast and weakened (now extending across

northeastern Missouri), renewed convective development has

occurred across southwestern into central Iowa over the past

couple hours.  The storms are being aided by ascent associated

with a mid-level shortwave trough approaching the region from

eastern Nebraska, while SPC mesoanalyses indicate lingering steep

lapse rates (near 7 C/km) and elevated instability to support

ongoing convection.  1.9 inch PW values continue to support heavy

rainfall.  Areas of 1 inch/hr rain rates have been noted near/east

of Des Moines, while other convection in southwestern Iowa is

moving toward south-central parts of the state that received 2-4

inches of rainfall this morning and currently have near-zero FFG

thresholds.  Flash flooding remains possible on at least an

isolated basis through 19Z/2p central given the rainfall scenario.
